Healthcare: Inevitable or Impossible? - Business - The Atlantic

Interesting piece - the health care "debate" illustrates what Bob Higgs describes as the inevitable increase in both scale and scope of government. This trend which began to accelerate with Lincoln in the Civil War takes energy from war. So following the wars on poverty, drugs, discrimination does this debate signal a war on rights.

Megan writes:

They're both right! Where does that leave us? At a defining moment in American legislative history . . . the Mothra v. Godzilla, irresistable force v. immovable object, rock v. hard place of policymaking. It can't pass and it can't fail.

Yet it must do one or the other.

All I can say is, pass the popcorn.
